19 Asian Green Tea

Asian Green Tea

Green tea is grown in many different regions of the world, but Asian green tea is probably the most well known among the average consumer. Green tea is a wonderful gift from mother earth that has been used in Asia for over 4,000 years. Once reserved for emperors, Asian Green tea has now been discovered by the modern world and is available for all of those who have the wisdom to seek it.
There are many different provinces in Asia that produce some of the finest green teas in the world. Zhejiang is home to the most famous of all teas – Xi Hu Longjing. It is also home to many other high-quality green teas.
Longjing is the most well-known of famous Asian green teas. From Hangzhou, its name in Chinese means “Dragon Well”. It is pan-fired and has a distinctive flat appearance in unbrewed form. Falsification of Longjing is very common and most of the tea on the market is produced in the Sichuan Province and therefore not authentic Longjing.
Many Asian green teas are grown in China, but Japanese green teas are also mass produced and among the best in the world as well. Types of tea are commonly graded depending on the quality and the parts of the plant used. There are large variations in both price and quality within these broad categories, and there are many specialty green teas that fall outside this spectrum.
The very best Japanese green tea is said to be that from the Uji region of Kyoto. Shizuoka Prefecture is also famous for its green tea. While Japanese green tea isn’t any better than any other Asian green teas, the best quality green teas are known to be grown in this area of the world.
Asians have known for years that drinking green tea is one of the best things you can do for your body. The fact that it has been a major part of their eating as well as their ceremonies shows that they revere this simple plant. It is a drink that keeps them healthy and a plant that helps sustain their economy.
As green tea products grow in popularity all over the world, Asian green tea remains the prime green tea beverage on the market. It can be found in many venues all over the world – even in the United States. Look for a good quality Asian green tea, sample it, buy it, and then make it part of your everyday life as you begin to realize the health benefits that Asians have known for years.
